Why this blog?
On Jul 6, 2023, I wrote a letter calling out the Board for their actuations I found unusual and disturbing. I've been resident here for 12 years, and it's only this time I find the trustees' performance of their fiduciary responsibilities questionable.
The board dismissed my concerns as personal sentiments of someone possibly suffering from premature dementia, and instead invited me to sit down with the officers. I declined for fear being surrounded by powerful, rank-conscious authoritarians could easily descend into a dreadful Kafkaesque nightmare.
Those same concerns are expressed in this blog, believing that residents will want to have a sense on how our fiduciaries are disbursing Rehoa funds.
Recently, I read minutes of meetings indicating the board passed a resolution increasing homeowners' dues (to P5.00 per sq. meter from P 1.50???),effective in 2025. I thought throwing some light at this time, on how responsible they were in their fiduciary responsibilities, may help residents evaluate this proposed increase according to the tests of essentiality, necessity, and beneficiality.
Opinions and comments from the Board of Trustees, through its President, are welcome, in the interests of accountability and transparency. Association members may pose questions/comments/observations here as well.
One caveat: Members should please refrain from commenting on comments of other residents. There is another space available for that. The moderator reserves the right to remove comments made on another member's comments.
The general rule here is "Deal with the message, not with the messenger."
Currently dues are not following the DHSUD formula which doesn't differentiate between lots and homes.
ReplyDeleteThe rate should be equal for both.
Essentially at 1.5 per square meter for lots, since the majority of maintenance cost goes to grass cutting the lot owners are getting a free ride at the expense of homeowners.
When I was treasurer I calculated that at 2 pesos per square meter for both home and lot would generate 16 million pesos annually.
Did this board approve an increase to P5.00, supposed to take effect in 2025?
